A Tough Weekend

Well that was one of the hardest weekends I have ever had. Our close friends the Alfonso's 6 month old son, Carson, died on Wednesday night. 6 Months old. We have been neighbours twice in the years we've known them, we have had children at almost the same time every time.

It was heartbreaking, just the most awfully difficult thing to find out. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering that Chris and Tiff are going through. They have been so incredible, such examples; I cannot tell you how much I admire them. I love them so much.

The funeral service was a unbelievably moving experience, so sad and uplifting at the same time. The viewing was so difficult and yet so necessary for everyone. He was such a handsome chap, so cute! The service included a talk from both Chris and Tiff, they both displayed such incredible dignity.

Amber and I came home and just hugged our children, every minute seems so much more precious than it did last week. Hug your children, hug them a lot.

Rob's cousins 3 year old daughter died tragically in July and it had the exact same effect on me. Everything else seems so trivial when you see people dealing with losing a child.

It's just awful isn't it. It a sobering time for sure, all the things that i worry about and all the things that I've worried over with others, none of it seems important.
