Luke and his wisdom

I love the wisdom of little children, and by that I include all the smart arse remarks they make as well as the little gems they all come out with from time to time.

Case in point.

This morning Amber had a migraine, poor thing so I told her to go lie down in the bedroom in the basement where it is cool and pitch black so she could rest. I had the kids, and did all the stuff you do on a Monday, cleaning, errands and the such. When we were out running errands we somehow hit 5 traffic jams at roadworks in a row, didn't seem to matter where I drove there was a looong traffic jam which was starting to wind me up. It's interesting to me how having a DVD in the car has a direct correlation to my sanity in traffic jams and long drives. Now that we don't have a DVD in the family Big Yellow truck my sanity is much more fragile than it used to be, and today was no exception. I was getting frustrated and it got to boiling point when I was getting on I-15 behind a lady who thought that merging with the traffic on I-15 at 25 MPH would be a good plan and couldn't work out why she couldn't make it onto the freeway thus holding up everyone behind her as she stopped dead at the entry to the freeway. I was trying hard not to show the kids I was furious but I did honk my horn ... a lot ... and if I were going to curse at all today that would have been the moment but I refrained ... (which reminds me that I keep meaning to write to Dodge and explain that having a horn that sounds like Ronald MacDees nose on a big freaking yellow Dodge Sport truck is not cool, not cool at all) anyway I got passed the lady - who of course was also on her cell phone and as it turned out had her mini dog or large rat (genuinely not sure which) in her lap.

As I pulled passed her Luke was sitting in the middle of the back row and lent forward putting his hand on my back and said;

"All in all Dad, not your day really is it? Lets just go get some chocolate or an Oreo milkshake."

So we did.
